John was admitted as a solicitor on 13 April 1965 and has been practising for over 50 years. In recognition of his longstanding service to the legal profession John has been bestowed honorary membership of the Queensland Law Society. As a member of the Queensland Law Society, John has served on various committees during his extensive career reviewing Queensland legislation regulating strata/building units and body corporates.
John has practised on the Gold Coast since September 1965 and has had extensive community involvement in that time, particularly with The Southport School. He was a member of The Southport School school council and chairman of the staff superannuation fund for over 10 years. John set up the school foundation and was a member of the Parents and Friends Committee for 11 years.
John’s other community involvement includes having organised camps for drought affected country children to attend which was grown from 80 children to over 400.
John has a keen sporting interest, particularly in rugby union. He was chairman of the Gold Coast Rugby Judiciary for over 20 years.
